Science Symposium PERG & SER-EC
Wednesday and Thursday, April 6-7, 2022
Salle Hydro-Québec, Pavillon Desjardins
Quebec City, QC
This scientific symposium will bring together for the first time the Peatland Ecology Research Group (PERG) and the SER-EC, i.e., the brand new chapter for Eastern Canada from the Society for Ecological Restoration.
This event, which will take place at Université Laval in Quebec City (in hybrid mode), will focus on peatlands and other wetlands (management, restoration, biodiversity, hydrology, biogeochemistry, Sphagnum farming, climatic changes, etc.), as well as on ecological restoration of other types of ecosystems.
For your information, during the Science Symposium PERG & SER-EC, we will have the pleasure of welcoming these guest speakers:
Wednesday, April 6:
Jonathan S. Price (retired from the University of Waterloo): On learning and applying hydrological principles to peatland restoration in Canada.
Michelle Garneau (Université du Québec à Montréal): Peatland ecosystems: leaders in terrestrial carbon storage.
Thursday, April 7:
Eric Higgs (University of Victoria): Where next for ecological restoration in Canada?
Alison Munson (Université Laval): From the ground up: soil quality as the basis for functional built urban ecosystems.
